but first, this is PART TWO of my interview with Jenn Michelle (Glam Life Beauty, MUA & Women Warrios Collab Founder)

Hit me up @choosandfashiondoos

Welcome to real beauty with FDA. This is season four. This is the grand finale. As we continue our conversation with gem Michelle, which we will dive into in just a second. I hope everyone's had an awesome week and do not fret. I will be back with season five and just a couple of weeks, I have been busy recording, um, some great guests, which I am really, really pumped about sharing with you all. I do just want to give a shout out and a recommendation for M K browse. That are based just off of dairy Ashford and I 10 in Houston. They offer microblading and permanent makeup services. Which this is the second time I've gone from microblading services. It has been about 14, 15 months since the last time I went and she is awesome. One of my best friends recommended me to her and I was definitely not disappointed. So I went back again just to get a touch-up. Um, so anyway, I just wanted to give them a shout out. Awesome. Very reasonably priced as well, which makes a huge difference. So anyway without further do let's crack on with part two of Jen, michelle

Jenn:

But it took a long time to get to here. You know what I mean? So, um, yeah, it's, you know, it is what you put into it

francene:

a hundred percent. Um, that's awesome. So when, so I guess looking at makeup for more on TV, How different is it applying that makeup to like every day? Cause I can imagine with the lights, with everything, like on your face and especially now like TVs, like high definition, I can imagine it's so much

Jenn:

more. Yes. Yeah. I mean, honestly, I don't feel pressure. I really like, I love what I do. Like I know when I'm on set, it I'm in a blessing. Right. Because I prayed for this. I prayed for these moments. Right. So I'm living in my blessings and that's how I feel like I get excited in the beginning. I used to get nervous and I'm like, oh my God. But you build confidence as you invest in yourself, you build confidence as when you see your work. Like I do. I think I'm the best makeup. No. I know there's a lot of towns in makeup artists. Right. But I know nobody will outwork me. Right. I know my service that I give is top-notch right. And I also know that I'm constantly working on my craft, so like, I don't really get nervous anymore. I really, I just love what I do and you see it in my work. Um, but on air makeup is definitely different. The lighting is different. Um, you have to be a little bit more precise when it comes to like eye shadow. I end with that. Um, I don't like to go super heavy with blush or bronzers because what it will look like with, um, lighting could look crazy. Um, but it's really, it's my savor. It it's truly, truly my favorite makeup. I love bridal makeup as well. I just love the softness, the real femininity of like beautiful bridal makeup. I love that. Um, editorial work, um, makeup is fun because it's edgy. It takes you out of your comfort zone and being super creative and everyday makeup. I can literally teach a class to show you how to do your face in 10 minutes, you know? Um, cause that's all you need. You don't need a lot to every day. You just need the. So, um, yeah, it's more about being heavy handed and knowing how lighting hits, but, um, no, I don't get nervous anymore. I truly feel grateful. Like for every opportunity I I'm still working on. I just feel like I remember my struggles. So to be in, um, in a point where I can pick the things that I want to do is, is truly a blessing.

francene:

Yeah. It's awesome. I feel like the passion as you're talking, um, Oh, it's very infectious, so, okay. I'm going to ask a more selfish question. So as you're looking at makeup we're, so I work in corporate, um, I worked for an oil and gas company. So a lot of the meetings I have nowadays are via zoom and where I sit in the office. Cause I'm obviously at home right now, the lying is horrific. So tell me for the everyday person, when I'm in a zoom meeting, how can I make my face pop? Like, what would

Jenn:

you suggest her last? Get that BB cream? I telling you it's literally could use a Wicker. Now I'm telling you, you will be Jen and you can message me like if you need help with matching I'm spot on with that stuff. So anyway, I can help you just ask me, um, I say a good the BB cream, just for some coverage. Cause you don't want to look like you're going out. You just want to do a quick little pick me up, right? Although mascara, maybe a touch of just like a little touch on your, on your cheeks. If you prefer bronzer or more blush girls, some people are both and just like a liquid. Something quick, easy, a quick pick me up. It looks nice. Um, and you look fresh face. I always recommend stuff like that for zoom. I mean, I literally have no makeup, no makeup on right now. I'm actually. I'm actually too much pregnant right now. So I'm super nauseous all day long. I have no energy to even try to be pretty right now. So it's like the nerve of me. I'm talking about beauty,

francene:

but um, oh my God. If anyone could see you right now, cause they know I don't use the video, but you look incredible. So

Jenn:

thank you.

francene:

Congratulations. So maybe feeling nauseous like.

Jenn:

Am I, what are you super excited? I was super surprised and super excited. I have three girls already. Um, so I thought I was done, but God planned for me. Um, and a baby is always a blessing. I'm really excited. I think having a big family, it's just, I come from a big family, so it's nice. You know, keep it going. I'm really excited because you know, I'm older now. So I feel like, um, I look at pregnancy even more different than when I did, when I did have my, I mean, it was always special, but now it's like, I'm living every moment, you know? I feel like we don't appreciate, not that we don't appreciate things when they're younger, but I don't think we've realized how intense. Things are, when you think you're really not gonna have any more babies milling. Nope. I got a different plan for you Jad. Okay. So yeah, but I'm super excited, super excited. I can't wait and Hey,

francene:

at least you've been through it, like, you know what to expect.

Jenn:

Yes. It's a, it's a good thing and a bad thing. So I don't want to think about, yeah, don't,

francene:

don't think about that. Um, so tell me more about the glam life beauty collection.

Jenn:

So the glam like beauty collection, it is just an array of makeup that is for makeup artists and makeup lovers. Um, it's cruelty. I have bronzer. Palish blessed, blush palettes, highlighters, lip liners, all different types of, um, lipsticks, lip, glosses, matte, shiny moisturizing, all that good stuff. I shadow palettes. I'm having to write lashes. And then I also have accessories. I'm a big accessory girl. I'm all into like that. Good Juju. Having good spirits. Yeah, I have a lot of evil eye things. Um, and then I have a really great detangle brush. Um, the only way I can explain it is if you ever used a wet brush, it's similar to a wet brush. I think, cause it's mine. I feel that it's better. I it's good for all hair types and it's good for hair extensions. So it's just the perfect brush. And then I have kids. So I kind of tested out on my daughters. They have thick hair and they're kids, so they actually love my brush. All my friends that bought it, all their husbands or boyfriends, they will take the brush. It's so funny. Cause everyone loves this brush. It's such a great brush. So, um, yeah, I have, well, that stuff I'm looking to, I don't know if being pregnant, I've been feeling like I have to put out stuff for new moms, um, expecting, expecting moms. I'm so sorry. Hey, you're good. Okay. Or expecting moms that I, I, my mind is always in business. Cause I just love what I do. So now I'm like, okay, maybe this is a reason for me to, so I don't know yet, but, um, That's Glen life beauty. Um, but it's growing. It's something really great. And I love my brand. So, um, I'm really excited that I'm able to share it with everybody. And we've been really busy this year. We really picked up, I rebranded during COVID and you know, I just added so many, really like, so many great products to the line and it's. Everyday women, but you get more for your money. So like, one of my pallets has about 36 colors. You have your neutrals, you have some shimmery, you have some glitter, you know, it's good for, I think, of the everyday person and what they need, you know? So like my bronzer palette, my bronzer palette, you can use it on your face, but you can also use as eye shadow. Cause everyone loves neutrals. You know? Um, my, my lip glosses, honestly, and it's not because they're mine, but they're just so good. I love a good news. I have a lot of nudey colors and I have your fun colors. But the one thing about my lips that I love is that there's no mind you ever wore makeup that when you have it puts the line around the rim of I can't. Yeah. So, you know, and like my blood and my products are bigger, so they're not where you get a little. So for your money, I really try to think of the everyday person. So I use my products onset and also, um, I do educate makeup and hair classes as well. So I use my products in there too, because my products laughs you know, and yeah, no,

francene:

that's awesome. And I think, you know, the amount of times I bought something online and it turns up and you spend a good amount and it turns up and it's super small and I'm like, Well, that's annoying.

Jenn:

Yes. It's super pigmented as well. And you get, um, which, you know, the products are good. They, they last long. Um, right now I'm looking I'm about to have setting sprays. So I'm excited about that. So that's next?

francene:

Yes. And actually I need to buy a setting spray. Do you know what I used to do when I was younger? This is probably the worst thing to admit to a makeup artist. But, um, when I was growing up, we would set our makeup using hairspray.

Jenn:

Really? No, I've never heard of that. That's so funny. I could tell you one that you could get now. Everyone loves it. I have it in my kit. It's the Morphe luminous spray. It's smells so good. Every time I use it, everyone's like that smells so good. So who don't love something that smells good putting on their face, but, um, and it lasts long. If you want something a little bit more. Um, where you can kind of make your face more matte. Um, the urban decay, all nighter is a really great setting spray as well. Awesome.

francene:

That's great. Um, and I also saw just looking, um, at your kind of online story, you have a beauty blender. Um, so do you want to go into this in a bit more detail? Cause I, I mean I have one and, um, I'll definitely purchase the brush and this as well, but you see the benefits of a blend. Yeah.

Jenn:

I love my beauty blender. One thing about me is before I put anything out to the world, And I am my biggest critic. I go in as if I hate this brand, right. Because I have to be ready for that. Right. That's just the part of the, part of the game. Right. But my beauty blender is so nice and soft. You know how sometimes I feel bad because I don't want to, I don't want to down talk any brands, but this is just my opinion, but like real techniques, real techniques has the orange beauty blenders. They're great. But I feel like they're a little. I hear

francene:

you. Yes.

Jenn:

Right? Yeah. So what mine, it's soft. You can use it, you can clean it, right. Because if it's for your face. Right. But they're nice and soft and it's easy to blend, you know, you, you put a little water in it. It, yeah. Blend. It's just such a nice soft application, but easy to blend. It's the softness that makes it move around your face easier. Um, I love my beauty blenders. They, I literally sell out of those. I have makeup bags too with like, stuff like that. So usually like when people buy like a certain amount of stuff, I usually throw in a makeup bag, like stuff like that, but the beauty blenders are. Phenomenal. Um, sometimes I don't use them sometimes. I just use my brushes because I'm a makeup artist. So I was kind of taught not to use them. Beauty blenders kind of came out when I was already involved in makeup. Um, but it's quicker. So let's say you get your prolapse, your BB cream, put it down, put a little bit on it. It's just an easier blend. Um, but it's really nice and soft there. Honestly. My favorite bit, I w I won't even use another beauty blender. That's how. I'm definitely

francene:

going to buy a couple of

Jenn:

them.

francene:

Okay. So looking at the women, warriors collab, tell me about this. And I love the fact. Um, so I'm just going read kind of what I wrote down. It says no blessing blocking aloud. I love this. And like slaying your goals, supporting fellow women. Oh my God. Tell me about. Thank

Jenn:

you. So women warriors collab is kind of like my baby. It is something that I always wanted to do. I kind of that we had our first event and I literally, the first thing I said, when I looked around the room is like, I manifested this, you know, and I got choked up because I remember when I was at a point where this, again, this was a dream, right? This was something I wanted to do, but it seemed so far fetched who would want to be part of my. Right like that, you know? Cause he, the things that we go through. Right. Um, so I was noticing my career was really starting to. Come around. And a lot of the women that I serve as a women in business or women that want to start in business. So I would always kind of give advice like, as I'm doing hair and makeup, or I was always the friend that empowered my other girlfriends, you know, I'm just, I don't know. I think I'm just innately built with confidence. It's just in my, it's just who I am. I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm a Leo, I don't know, but it's just like who I am. Um, So with the women wise and like, you know what, I'm at a point where I had. A lot of clients now that I think could benefit from one another, you know, and let's say girls or women that want to start something, why not be a part of this group because I came from not having, knowing anyone. Right. And your network is everything right. And I, one thing I made it a point to be no nonsense. I didn't want to be something that was clique-y in there. I want it to be a space where women can. Uh, where they know they're supported, they're not judged. Um, so we have monthly meetings. It'll be different topics. Um, it's all motivational stuff in the chat in Facebook. I also have an Instagram for it. Um, and then we do stuff. So like for example, when I had the women warrior. Um, has some of the proceeds had went to cancer, right? Because it was an October. My mom is a three time cancer survivor. I have multiple family members who have passed away from cancer. So it was something that was like really dear to my heart, um, doing that. Um, I have women in the group. Our advocates for domestic violence. So gossip is somebody in that group is going through something. We have this group now that people have helped in not just in business, just, you know, so from women warriors, I actually have a smaller group called my growth group. Um, my growth group is. Um, a very intimate group of girls. It, you have to kind of be interviewed to make sure you're the right fit because we talk about everything. Um, but it's basically mindset growth, inspiration. We, I helped these girls journal, um, just to help them be the best possible versions of themselves. And these are all entrepreneurs. These are women, some heavy hitters women that are doing big things, but I wind up from there. Some of the women warriors now that want to have a little bit more of an intense one-on-one. So I got into one-on-one empowerment, coaching from this, and it's like a part it's. I, I love it. I love watching these girls grow. I love watching them, you know, hit certain goals that in the beginning it was just something they wrote about in their journal. You know what I mean? And now they're like, oh my God. And I see it firsthand. So, um, they're also part of my women warriors and, you know, um, It's just uplifting women. And I always say like, no blessing blockers. The reason why I say that is there's no room for hate when there's so much room for growth, you know? Um, I'm a big advocate, you know, I have three daughters that are watching me. Right. So. I want them to see like, listen, my season 10 is not your season one and that's okay. Cause I was at season one, you know what I mean? And my little ones now they're starting to make their own lip scrubs and they're starting to want to do, you know, and they're young. So I bring them with me to pop-up shops. I still do pop up shops at my Gran. I love getting my brand out there and I'll bring them with me and let them. Sell their stuff, because I want them to see that with the women warriors, they know about women warriors, you know, some zooms, I won't let them be around. If I know it's something, you know, um, that at a young age, you don't need to know about to sometimes be dive deep. Um, but it's whatever resonates, you know, I have a woman in my group who is so remarkable, she's an author and. She is a survivor of, you know, incest, pedophilia, domestic violence, like all the things that should have broke her. She actually now has a home for women to go to if they're asleep, you know? So these are the type of women that are in this group, you know? Um, just it's, it's just so inspiring because it really is a space where people feel safe and I love that. I was able to create that. Um, and I love seeing these women like. You know, cause that's what's happening, you know, it's so patched, you know, you can do so much on your own, but when you come together, it's unforeseeable. It's, it's just, there's nothing that can't have. Yeah,

francene:

gosh, I love this so much. I feel like I need to like, go do something after this. I'm like,

Jenn:

let's do this. You can even sit like, you know, come into the Facebook group if there's ever well, yeah. You know, come in and join us. You're even if you want to come into one of our, um, my growth group, we do six 30 in the morning. I know it's early, but if, even if you wanted to come in on Monday, let me know. I'll send you the link. Speaker. And there, um, this woman, another author from Georgia, who's one of my clients. He turns into a friend. Um, but she has amazing gems to drop in her energy. You won't mind waking up early to hear her talk because she's just such a force. So I'll definitely, if you want to do it, reach out to me, I'll give you the exome. Oh,

francene:

well, thank you so much. Yeah. I mean, if anything better than our Monday morning kicking off and being like, yes, I feel like I can literally speak to you for hours. I'm definitely on the side. I feel like there's way more questions I want to ask. Um, but, um, in being conscious of time, um, what I normally do is a quick fire round. So what pops into your head? Just say. And I feel like this first question is probably inappropriate. Cause you said you're two months pregnant, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Wait, your favorite cocktail.

Jenn:

Oh, my favorite cocktail. Um, oh my God. If you noticed, I haven't drank in two months, what do I wish that I could have? What are you going to add? Like a dirty martini and good, dirty martini. I love olives.

francene:

I'm always like very in awe of someone that has like a martini. I want to be that. Um, what is your most used emoji?

Jenn:

I think the one with the two hearts on the eyes. Yeah.

francene:

Um, if you were a sex and Satan character, who would you be?

Jenn:

Oh, my God. I don't know. I think I'm like, I feel like I'm a little bit of Carrie, you know, like, but then I feel like at times when I was younger, I was a little bit of a Samantha. I don't know. I feel like I'm a mixture of both. I don't know. I would be own. Thanks.

francene:

We'll take it. You could pick only two skincare products or makeup products. What would they be?

Jenn:

Um, I would definitely pick the prolapse, the BB cream, because you, you always needed a little bit of something. Um, and I would say my lip gloss, uh, right now my favorite college chai, and I literally can't go anywhere without it. It's like a perfect Nudie gloss.

francene:

Awesome. I will add that to my list as well. And I go and pick out some purchases. Um, if you could be anyone for the

Jenn:

day, who would you be? Um, I'm going to say J-Lo I just always loved her, um, everything, her style, her swag I'm from New York. So I feel like I got her. I would say her just for one day. I would love to see what it's like.

francene:

Um, so question on that. Have you tried any of her beauty products?

Jenn:

I have not

francene:

one too. I'm really curious.

Jenn:

The only thing I use is Inglot a few years ago she did, um, a collab with them and it was like a J-Lo shimmer and it was, oh yeah, I remember that. Yeah, I will. I'm like, so I'm so picky when I use it. Cause I don't know if they make it anymore, but that was, that was like phenomenal. I mean, her skin is just, I mean, she's just absolutely stunning, but I haven't used her skin right now. I'm really loving my keel. I don't know, I just feel super moisturized within just so that's what I've been using.

francene:

Um, okay. What is your life motto or any phrases that you live by?

Jenn:

Wow. I don't

francene:

feel like you've already said so many, to be honest.

Jenn:

I don't know right now, I guess what I kind of go by is kind of what's for you will, you know, what's meant for, you will always come to you, you know? Um, You know, especially when I found out I was pregnant, you know, I'm in such a good place in my career that I said to my husband, like, oh my God, I'm in such a good place. That would, if people don't want to work with me, these are the things that are, I, I don't want to lie. I'm like, you know, we would know these are things that I thought of, you know, and, and he's like, Jen, what do you tell them? You know what I'm like, no, you're right. You know, so I'm like, okay, reality check. But, and it's true, you know, what's for, you will always come to you, you, it doesn't matter. That's why you can show love. You can clap for other people. You don't have to be jealous or envious because your season is coming, you know?

francene:

No. Oh my gosh. A hundred percent. I love that so much. Oh, my gosh, you have just made me feel so positive and I feel like the person, but, um, I don't know. There's something like very global and like passionate and infectious. So thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me today. Um, For everyone listening, please, please go follow Jen Michelle. So it's on Instagram. Jan is with two ends and then it's under scroll, um, glam life. And then we also mentioned the glam life beauty collection, and then the women warriors collapsed. So please go. Check her out and, um, we will definitely keep in touch. I'm going to message you as

Jenn:

soon as possible. Yeah. And listen, message me about the lip glosses. Some of them are not up there yet. So like the ones I was telling you about chai, I'll send you over swatches. So if you want something, I'll let you know, like, you know, you can pick from there. Oh my God. I definitely,

francene:

well, thank you. So,

Jenn:

so, so much. Thank you so much. It was so nice talking to you and if you want to, um, you know, come to the meeting and try it. Yeah, I'll send it over to you, the, um, the stuff, but thank you so much for having me. It's such a pleasure talking to you and we'll have a great day. We'll talk soon. You too. Have a good one.

And that is the conclusion of season four. Of real beauty with FD, but we will be back in a couple of weeks. But season five. Bye.
